For the bakers out there!
I want to bake a two layer chocolate birthday cake, but I have a tiny oven, so I’m thinking that I might have to make the batter separately.
Using a cake mix would greatly simply this task, but I haven’t had too much luck with finding cake mixes locally (Osaka).
1. Have any of you seen any cake mixes in supermarkets? Foreign food groceries? So far, I’ve only spotted pancake mixes, Betty Crocker brownies, the like.
2. Or have any of you successfully modified a local cake mix and turn it into a chocolate cake?
Thanks!

Kaldi might have them.
Cocoa is easily available in the drink isle of most supermarkets. Chocolate cake recipes abound upon the internet and you can always make cupcakes to your heart’s content.
I’ve never seen a chocolate cake mix that I can remember, but, I also don’t think I’ve ever looked. I did used to buy the Ghirardelli brownie mix at Costco whenever they had it.
[Tomiz](https://tomiz.com/) is a baking supply store with online and physical shops. They sell their own line of cake, cookie, madeleine, pancake, etc., mixes. I’ve used a few of them and they’re very good.
Edit: looks like they’ve got quite a few shops in the Osaka area.

I can’t remember if they had cake mixes offhand, but weirdly enough, my local Seria has a relatively large section of mixes for baked goods?
If not, [Muji has this “make your own” set](https://www.muji.com/jp/ja/store/cmdty/detail/4550512845898) that might do the trick.
