My roommate was in Japan last month and he loved the pillow in his Hotel, but we weren’t able to pinpoint what kind of pillow it was.
He describes it somewhat similar to cherrystone- or buckwheat-pillows but the granules were longer and hollow.
Does someone recognize this pillow by the descripttion ? Thank you so much!

Why not try asking the hotel directly?
Maybe from the paulowina tree 桐つぶ枕 (yaki) kiri-tsubu-makura ([burnt/roasted] Paulowina- morsel (?)- pillow): eg something like [this](https://www.tansu.com/kiri-makura/)?
They’re just plastic beads
