Having Ultrasounds/MRI sent home

I’m might be moving to Japan in January but I’ve been seeing a specialist in my home country for an ongoing condition.

I was wondering if its possible to have ultrasounds/MRI scans sent back to my country? I speak a fairly high level of Japanese so I’m not too worried about communication.

I understand I’ll need to see a Japanese doctor too but with mass introduction of zoom/phone consultations it’s still possible to contact my specialist while in Japan. I’ve just ultimately heard bad things about the level of care in Japan regarding my condition.

I’m even willing to pay out-of-pocket for required scans if that might be an issue.

I’m not sure if anyone here would know but thanks in advance.

  1. have your scan in Japan and ask for the images saved on CD rom, no problems usually they ask to pay extra like 1500 yen or so for the data
