If a Japanese person is stranded on an island and they need to write out “HELP” with branches or logs, do they use Japanese?

Sort of a dumb question I’m curious about this in all Asian languages, but figured I’d ask about Japanese. ヘルプ doesn’t’ seem that hard to write with logs, but probably harder than HELP. Would a Japanese person use the English? Or is there an alternate well known phrase like SOS that you would use?

  1. They’d gather a lot more twigs to write 助けてくれ
    HELP is probably easier and more universal

  4. ヘルプ is going to be that thing on a computer that tells you how to work the computer so as mentioned 助けて, but a Japanese person is likely to use SOS or HELP as all Japanese will know this as well as non-Japanese

  6. I would think they would probably just use “SOS”

    I feel like kanji would be pretty difficult to spell using branches, and far less people would understand that than SOS
