All I can say is they better not shut down the borders completely again, cause I was forced home when my study abroad got ripped from me in March 2020 with my home university threatening to kick me out of school if I didn’t, and I’ve been trying to get back into Japan ever since in any way I can
If they close off the borders and blame the gaijin in some vain attempt to feel better about the situation at hand (again), then I can’t restart my career life. I can’t do that until I’m back in.

Do not gatekeep. Most of this subreddit is comprised of foreigners, yet this toxic mindset of ‘keep the foreigners out’ seems to have settled in most of the Japan related subreddits on the site. Do you not understand that other people might have similar aspirations and goals to you? Do you not get that people have had their lives ripped apart not only by the pandemic but by inane decisions like this?
I don’t know how else to explain it to people, but I’m unwilling to let my higher education of almost 10 years go to waste. I spent almost a decade on this goal, and I’m not going to stop now. That is final.
