Pls help to demystify Shou Sugi Ban secret recepy

I’m a newbie woodworking fan, and I got interested in original Japanese Shou Sugi Ban wood charring technique. Youtube is full of videos about it, but I feel most of the authors don’t really know what they are talking about – including covering slightly burned wood with epoxy resin and other rubbish.

Could anyone, preferably from the industry, give me a link to a classic Shou Sugi Ban method (including treating charred wood afterwards) or explain it briefly here – that would be much appreciated.
