About use of the ofuro

This is a question for Japanese people, or people that live or have lived with Japanese people….
How many days a week do you use the ofuro (meaning the bathtub, so taking a shower to clean yourself up and then enter the bathtub)? And also, how often do you change the water?
I have a 5month old baby, and he loves it! He gets soooo relaxed! I believe Japanese families with little kids use it almost every day , but if they change the water every day, that’s gotta be hella expensive, isn’t it?

  1. We take a bath everyday with new water. Water and gas are still our cheapest utility bills.

  2. My Japanese husband only uses the tub on weekends because he doesn’t have enough time to take a traditional bath on weekdays. He always fills the tub with fresh water and then drains it when he’s finished. He doesn’t reuse bath water.

  3. Staying with my in-laws for a while while we look for apartment. I give my 10 month old a bath every day. Everyone showers and doesn’t use ofuro in the family. I sanitize tub, fill the ofuro to lowest setting, wash her, then drain and wipe water out of ofuro each day.
