Domestic travel subsidy – can I book hotel for visiting father?

I’m living in Japan and my father is visiting. While I work he’s doing a little traveling. Would I be able to book a hotel for him to get the discount?

I’m able to but should the hotel make note he’s not a resident and I’m not with him what’s the worst that could happen? They make him pay the balance? Or could the police get involved?

  1. You can’t use the discount if you are not a resident. The front desk clerk will check your residence card.
Edit: the hotel won’t get the subsidy from the government. They might make him pay the remaining 40% out of his pocket?!
