Hello. I am moving into an apartment in Shinjuku in a week. I would like to get a legal alias for personal reasons. Does anyone know what Shinjuku ward’s rules are regarding obtaining a legal alias? I can’t seem to find anything on their website. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Just be aware this is going to cause more problems than you think it will solve but whatever.
You’ll need to register the alias (通称名) here:

then get an official identity card listing it.

You’re right though they don’t list requirements or provide the application form on their website.
