Affordable Furniture Hunting Help

Hello japanlife peeps, I’ll be moving to Tokyo soon and restarting my furniture and appliance possessions from scratch.

Please share your knowledge of where to look for 新生活 essentials for an about-to-work poor uni student around town! Be it new or second-hand, I’m happy to hear anything that offers me an option to look. I’m gonna be based around the Suginami/Nakano/Nerima area if that info helps!

  1. You could join sayonara sales or mottainai groups on Facebook. Things tend to be cheaper/free there, especially during moving season. You might have tk arrange for your own delivery though.

  2. Affordable furniture in Japan means Nitori or Ikea. For appliances check out deals at places like Yodobashi Camera, Bic Camera, and Yamada Denki.

  3. You’re local city office might have a recycle plaza, usually next to the non-burnable dump centre. You might need you’re own transport, although I hear some provide a k-truck.
