I had a few questions about the certificate of eligibility and the proof of funds bit. I want to apply for a language school in Osaka and applications start in July 2023 for a 2 year spring term that starts in April 2024. From what I’ve seen around is that you need a bank statement to show that you have enough money to sustain yourself. I’m employed and from California and by time application starts I’d have enough to cover 24 months of tuition including extra fees and a probably a plane ticket but not enough to cover housing, but about 3 months before april I’m positive I’d have save enough to cover both if not more.
Now I’m sure I won’t be applying for the the coe as soon as july hits ofc but I’d also like to be prepared before I even start applications especially if there are changes I’d need to make a few months ahead of time. So my first question is will the funds only enough to cover a little more than tuition and a few thousand us dollars extra be a problem when I present my bank statement?
My other question is how would I submit it or more like what would I show? When I get paid weekly I split my check into a savings account that’s specifically for going to school in Japan and leave 100-200 us dollars left for myself in my checking account for the rest of the week for anything else, (it’s been over-drafted a few times recently due to payments coming out late or auto payments but I’m making changes to make sure that doesnt happen again; not sure if that’s important in the long run but just to be sure)
Would it be acceptable to submit the bank statement from my savings that has a steady amount going into it each week or would it have to be from my checkings, does it matter? Another option I’ve heard of and listing parents as sponsors both of which are also working but that’s my last resort other than getting a side job before then.
So sorry if this is a lot of detail just for two questions, it’s something I’ve been anxious about and would hate to work so hard just to get pushed back again so I wanna make sure I’m prepared thank you ✨
