Early Feb Tokyo 7 day Itinerary

Hi sub,

First time headed to Japan and super excited. Will be with my wife while we leave the 2 year old at home with his grandmothers. Have a few specific questions, but looking for general feedback and suggestions as well.

Fri, Feb 3 – IAH > LAX > HND. Land at 4p. Check in to Hotel Century Southern Tower. Meet my brother and his wife out for dinner and a drink or two in Shinjuku before turning in.

Sat, Feb 4: Tsukiji Outer Market – Teamlab Planets – Ginza – Kyubey reservations secured at 6:30. Is 8am too early to start a walk through Tsukiji? Trying to figure out the right time to book reservations at Teamlab that allows enough time at Tsukiji before and Ginza after.

Sun, Feb 5 – Meiji Jingu – Shibuya (Kiddy Land, Nintendo Store, Crossing) – Harajuku – Ryogoku Kokugikan for 1 day sumo tourney around 3p. Kabukicho at night.

Mon, Feb 6 – Kamakura day trip. Also considering Kanazawa. Can Kenrokeun Garden, Nagamachi, Omicho market, Kanazawa castle, Higashi Chaya be done in one day?

Tues, Feb 7 – Check in to Tokyo Prince Gallery Kioicho. Mostly a free day, but have Shinjuku Gyoen, Government building, and Shibuya Crossing in the evening.

Wed, Feb 8 – Asakusa – Akibara – Reservations secured at Sushisho Masa

Thurs, Feb 9 – Travel day

Food to fit in – Udon Shin, PST, Narikura Katsu, coco Ichibanya, Various ramen, cheesecake, depato (any recommended for best food?)

Drinks at Golden Gai, Ben Fiddich, Yata

Eat/drink at Omoido Yokocho, Ameyoko in Ueno, Hoppy Dori

  1. Kanazawa is doable as a day trip, especially if you start the journey early. The garden and castle are very close to each other. You can spend a lot of time at the garden which you may not be able to do but you should still get a good feel for it. Walked to an open samurai residence from the castle in ~15 minutes. You may need to watch your time at the shopping area and market, I would pick one.

    Sunset will be at 5.20pm.
