How do you find someone’s お墓 when you only know her name, family name and train station of where she was living?

I assume I just need to go to the related city hall but I am not sure. Serious question. 🙇‍♂️

  1. Why not just write grave in English? Your excluding 85% of the users here from knowing what you’re talking about.

  2. Where they were cremated is usually on their Koseki in the City/ward office they lived in, but if you are not related and don’t give a good reason as to why, they might not tell you. My husband’s grandmother was not given a funeral because his aunt(her daughter) was taking care of her and became a Jehovah witness. He went to the town office and they first lied and said they didn’t know, but came back later and said they couldn’t tell him, probably because of the trouble it could cause(?). So even though my husband said they probably couldn’t legally do that, there was nothing he could do about it. If you can find out where she was cremated, they might be able to tell you.
