Anki: How strict are you when reviewing?

I’m wondering how strict you guys are when reviewing words (as a beginner / intermediate beginner).
Do you only hit “good” if you get the reading AND the meaning 100% correct?

So for example, on a vocabulary card i get the word:
金持ち
and i instantly know it means “wealthy” but somehow pronounce it as “きねもち” instead of “かねもち” in my head, would you hit “good”, “hard” or even “again”?

  1. Do what you feel most comfortable with but as a general rule you should fail a card if you can’t perfectly recall both the meaning and reading since completely learning new words is the point of anki.

  2. I’m fairly strict. I hit “good” when I get both reading and all meanings right. If it takes me more than a few seconds to recall, then I hit “hard”. If I get anything wrong, then I hit “again”. Though, I make a few exceptions for words which I know extremely well. Often I forget the exact translation, but still know what a word means and when it’s used.
