Dose internationally recognized professional qualifications count? WOSTEP

Hi all, I am a student currently studying Watchmaking/ Watch technician under the WOSTEP (Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program) program. this is an internationally recognized professional qualification in the maintenance and care of fine-quality watches created by the Swiss government to be qualified to work on watches outside of Switzerland. I already have 3 years of experience in the field and am currently just getting this qualification to boost my career and make it official, but I was wondering would this pass/ be enough to get into Japan?

if that is enough great! Japan has a huge industry when it comes to luxury goods and luxury watches, they are the 5th largest importer from Switzerland in the world. So I know the work is there I just struggle to find it, a lot of the work I find here in the UK is word of mouth and then LinkedIn. so I was just wondering if dropping my CV from company to company emails is a good idea/ acceptable to doing japan, or is it dependent on the company?

  1. Good news: You are one of the very few people who’ve come through this sub who might actually qualify for the “[Skilled Worker](https://eng.visa-immi.com/list/skilledlabor/)” visa.

Bad news: Unfortunately the certification itself will not be enough. You’ll also need 10+ years experience.

Once you rack up the experience necessary to qualify for the visa, you could definitely start dropping resumes. But you would probably be better served by building up your network while you’re getting the experience.
