Are canned foods safe in Japan?

I noticed that since living in Tokyo I got more acne in my face.

Most of the time I eat canned beans and chicken.

Anyone know if there are BPAs or other preservatives, chemicals in the cans here?

  1. Prepared food in Japan is packed full of preservatives etc. because the fallout if someone got sick would be so bad for the food companies. I’ve heard a lot of Japanese people complain about the amount of chemicals in commercial food here.

Anecdotally, I stocked up on canned food when corona first hit, which I then had to eat. It definitely made my skin go a bit shit.

  2. Define safe. Some people consider McDonald’s to be safe for human consumption; personally I don’t.

  3. This is the second post about acne this week. The last one was about water that caused acne. Stay safe people and don’t forget to drink ayran!

  4. Most likely the acne is caused by other factors, probably poor face washing and treatment. If you lived somewhere for years and had no issue, then started eating more canned foods while everything in your life hasn’t changed, maybe it’s that. Otherwise, probably not.

  5. Isnt bpa plastic or something?

Also, is this your first time living by yourself? I recommend googling recipes

  6. The chicken probably has a high amount of salt and sodium based preservative. It’s why those guys who eat mostly cheap Chinese food while gaming 24/7 have oily, acne’d faces. Switch to fresh chicken and take it easy on the canned meats, salty foods, etc and your acne should clear up in a few weeks. To speed this up, getting in some exercise to entice facial sweat would help.

Only use facial medicine (treatment) if the condition is severe and go to a dermatologist for medicine because those cleanser medicinal creams and toners from the drug store cause more problems than they prevent. (Except for moisturizer)

  7. OP, do you really believe that the only change in your diet, lifestyle, and overall lifestyle is the introduction of Japanese canned food? When I got here, everything in my diet changed…as did everything I washed myself with, how much walking I did, and probably a few other things I’m not even aware of.

  8. Acne could be weather related too. The humid nature of this country gave me terrible skin problems when I arrived. Getting medicine from the dermatologist helped.

  9. If you’re trolling: dude wtf

If you’re not trolling: eat fresher foods (like NOT canned things), eat more fruits and vegetables and get face cleanser and lotion. Some people with naturally dryer skin have oilier faces as a result, which can lead to more acne. Also stress/hormonal changes could be a factor?
