Note: I had seen someone else post this asking if it was being sent to others.
I’m confirming that yes, it’s being sent to others too. It’s a boilerplate. I have 5 years experience as an ESL full time teacher. So their advice doesn’t really fit.
Here’s my prediction: the vast majority of people already locked in by interac have been waiting for up to a year and a half due to the pandemic. They’ve spent that time fantasizing and building the experience up to be waaaay more than it is (“If I can just get to Japan everything will be perfect!”). The low pay and questionable working conditions Interac is infamous for at a lot of schools will create a lot of mid-year openings.
It’s been like this for months, at least that’s what I was told. Yes, I work for them
Full, sure. When are they going to actually get here is another matter entirely. Borders are still closed.
Whoo! Glad I got in! 😀
At least it’s honest, better than stringing some kids along overseas.
Oh man, have things ever changed. I remember way way back learning about Eikaiwa chains online before I came to Japan. They offered a minimum of ¥250,000 a month and the websites were rolling out the red carpet trying to give reasons you should come. They didn’t care if you had never actually taught English before.
Now, all these years later, the salary is substantially lower, and they are telling people they need to learn Japanese before they come and gain experience teaching English by teaching refugees for free if they want a chance.
Damn that sucks. I passed it up for a higher paying job and will just do vacation there for two weeks. I waited a year for interac and realized maybe it’s not all I fantasized about. Tried it my way…
Pretty sure I got that email last year. Still full? That’s unfortunate
The weaboos will have to wait til 2023 to have their taste lol. Come on guys you know I’m just kidding. A failing economy, increasing taxes, almost an everyday occurrence of racism towards expats / foreigners. And girls in maid cosplay uniforms, what else could you want?
#Oh no, my weaboo dweems are cwushed! UwU
While nothing against the OP, I find it strange that Interac would send out an email to “everyone” that is black on white and has mismatched line spacing. FWIW, we work with Interac staff in a supporting roll and I just checked with their admin office and this message is definitely NOT TRUE. Their website is still accepting applications. Inter office emails still ask for personal referrals for those interested in working for Interac. I am also pretty sure that those submitting an application are applying for AN Assistant Language Teaching Position…. not THE Assistant Language Teaching Position…as in the only one the entire company has available.
I had a great time here for 4 years, I’m so ready to go home though! I know a lot of the other teacher in my BOE are planning to quit before the new school year!
One of the waitlisted people. Was supposed to leave in March, then August, then December, and now March 2022.
There are also a bunch of people still waiting from March 2020 to leave.
They well and truly have a lot of backlogged people waiting to enter. However, visa restrictions easing could change things.
I applied yesterday and I haven’t received this email
Interac emailed me last week asking if I was looking for a job, starting ASAP, or November.
If you drink you will save nothing and dig into savings, if you sit at home and only play video games you may manage to save a fortune.
This is a load of horseshit. Interac is desperately trying to fill positions but is only looking for people who currently reside in Japan and have a valid visa, since MOJ isn’t currently issuing new visas. It’s all over FB.
Interac is the shadiest of companies and I do not recommend working for them unless not working for them means you will be homeless, and in some cases that may be preferable.
Oh boy! Volunteer as a refugee teacher and study Japanese so that MAYBE someday you too can be paid a whopping $23k USD per year!
Yeah, nah, m8.
I applied last year, around this time, they told me that 2021 was full up like that message, but I got put on the list for March of 2022. Got in and am pretty much just waiting on the email with the details to get my visa.
No they aren’t. They literally just emailed a friend asking her if she has friends looking for jobs.
