Question to all the Sienta owners

Looking to upgrade our car because we have a second baby due in March. The first one is two years old. Do you think the Sienta will be able to hold a newborn and toddler comfortably. I am torn between the voxy/noah but they are more expensive and the gas mileage is better with the sienta.

I haven’t been in a sienta but from the outside it looks like it might be a little snug. We take rode trips pretty often and we usually borrow my wife’s grandparents Esquire. The room is nice but I always get panic attacks driving those big cars on these tiny streets. Any advice is appreciated.

edit: forgot to mention that we are going to a dealership in about two weeks. But I just wanted to see if the Sienta was a good option for two kids before I went. If it wasn’t then I could focus my attention on getting a voxy or noah.

  1. I think it would be a good idea to find your local Toyota dealer and sit in one. If you have the child seat already for the newborn, bring it along.

  2. I don’t own one but a friend does. I was blown away by how much space is in the back seat for a car that size. Apparently it comes at the expense of boot/hatch space (almost zero when the rear seats are pushed back).

  3. Why don’t you just borrow sienta from Times Car and see yourself? They have a good supply of those.

I have borrowed it several times and it has plenty of space on the second row, although it’s undeniably much smaller than voxy and noah. It’s also a matter of personal preference, but I found Sienta to be a meh car to drive. Cheapo plastic interior with questionable exterior, mushy steering and lack of power unless you drive a hybrid. In the same class Honda Freed is way more pleasant…

There’s also Nissan Elgrand as the middle way. It’s larger than Sienta and Freed, but (probably) smaller than Esquire.

  4. Sienta just switched to a new model so there may not be that many people with the new version yet. My inlaws ordered a Sienta about 2 months ago, but it looks like they won’t receive the car for another few months due to a backlog of orders. Something to keep in mind if you want to buy the car by a certain date.

I’ve driven the previous version, and I’d say it is roomy enough for 2 small kids, but it may get too small when the kids grow up and you want to travel or go camping with the entire family, for example.
