Is 180-190 KWH normal consumption for someone who lives alone?
I’m mostly outside the whole day from 8:00am – 6pm and the only thing I can think of using a lot of electricity is the induction cooker, microwave, fridge, and water heater for the shower, I only do laundry once a week(tumble dry only), then I only cook rice 3 times a week. I don’t even use the aircon for heat. I only have a weak laptop and I even unplug the wifi when I go out.
I find it difficult to believe since, I still get the electric bill from my home country . In that 3 story house with multiple Electric fans on all day and more than one person taking a hot bath every now and then, they also have a bigger fridge and washing machine, and cook more on an induction cooker, Multiple computers running and their average for a while now is around 200KW.
Is there a way for TEPCO to check my meter if its reading right? I’m wondering if the water heater in this apartment is just that inefficient. I’m dreading the bill that’s coming soon, since I’ve been taking hot showers more. I’m actually paying double for even less KW than they are back at home, Energy prices here are crazy.

That’s about how much electricity a single person uses. I don’t know how much it is because of the high cost of electricity these days, but I think it is around 6,000-8,000円
Many devices draw each some watts of stand by power. Plug everything out for a week and check your meter, also check it when going to sleep and waking up to get an idea of the fridge’s consumption. Also check the meter before and after hot showers or take cold showers during that week, heater without heat pump (ecocute) draws a crazy amount of electricity.
My bill last month is 209kWh. I live alone, and use heater every night. My water heater and cooktop is gas.
Checking my usage history, it seems that on month I don’t use aircon, my usage is 130-140kWh.
I work from home and use around 150kw on average.
I cook using IH and Have Air Fryer.
No AC.
Kerosene heater only.
Desktop PC on almost all day.
No TV.
All LED Lamps
Gas only for shower.
150L Fridge.
I pay around 5200-5600 per month.
