Question regarding setting up a small company in Japan

I’m interested in setting up a small company (i’m practically the only one running the business) I’ve hired tax lawyers/accountants/freelance workers before and i will probably hire some people/other businesses here and there, but i won’t be needing permanent employees.

If anyone here has similar experiences there few questions i want to ask:

\-How small can your company be? Is it possible to run it by yourself, with 1 other Japanese employee as a helper?

\-How difficult it is to renew your business/investor visa?

\-Are you required to immediately make sales/profits?

The business that i’m currently running right now is creating and selling digital goods, i’m planning to branch out into 3D printing business and sell my own physical goods in Japan.

  1. Starting a business is as easy as registering as a sole trader which is a 1 page form and 5 min at the tax office.

Sponsoring your own visa and setting up a KK is a different topic altogether and other people are probably more qualified to respond.

  2. If you’re setting up a business under an investor visa there are minimum requirements regarding capital and staffing that you have to meet. IDK about now but back when I looked into that one the requirements were a minimum capitalization of Â¥30,000,000, at least one full-time Japanese staff, and enough money in the bank to pay all salaries and operating expenses for the first year. The visa regulations were revised in 2017, though, so I don’t know if any of that still applies now but you should check the actual regs.
