I’m a student on exchange in Japan and do not speak the language properly. But this number keeps calling me, and I looked it up and it supposed to be a creditcard company. On the website it says it is important and you probably forgot to pay JACCS… I did not open an account or anything, but I received just a ton of forms and documents (all in Japanese) when I arrived. I payed my health insurance and phone and everything. Is it just a scam? Or is it important to find a Japanese person to call them back?
Thank you in advance

Might be for the previous owner of your number.
There are a lot of scam calls, texts, and emails in Japan these days. It’s basically out of control. It’s better to never click on a link in any message or answer calls from numbers that aren’t in your contacts list. Whenever I get a call from a number I don’t recognize I let it ring through to voicemail. If it’s legitimate and important they will leave a message.
If you are a student on exchange, your school should have staff on hand to help you.
As it is a valid number for JACCS aka Not a Scam, you should figure out why they are calling you and get them to stop.
Won’t you take these calls? I’m trying to talk to you dammit! ☎️
Have you joined a gym or some other club/organization? Some of them ask you to open a credit card with JACCS in order to process the monthly membership fee, and usually you fill the required documentation together with all the other member paperwork.
This was the case when I joined Gold’s Gym in Harajuku a few years ago.
