Requesting computer-related advice. Help?

I’m planning on moving to japan soon, and I have a couple of questions.
I’m considering bringing 2 desktop computers with me, but due to differences in voltage/current, will it be easier to just buy a power supply unit for each desktop, or ship the computers in and use a travel adaptor?

  1. Your power supplies should handle the voltage without any issues. In the old days there was a switch to flip on it but anything made in the last decade will automatically adjust.

Worst case you’ll just need to buy a cable to fit in a Japanese two prong socket.

Be very careful with shipping the pcs though. If possible you may want to disassemble them and pack components separately.

  2. You can buy cables at any big electronics store or on Amazon but they power supply will still work. The annoying thing is finding a plug with grounding in your apartment.

When I moved here I disassembled the computer to its components and put them in my carry on then got a new case and power supply here as it was cheaper than shipping it.

  3. As others have said: Your power supply can handle the voltage with no problems.

    However, one additional point:

    >ship the computers in and **use a travel adaptor?**

***DO NOT USE A TRAVEL ADAPTOR!!!***

Seriously, just don’t do it. Travel adaptors are not designed for the wattage/amperage that a desktop computer pulls, and will end up being a *massive* fire hazard. You can get new cable with the appropriate plugs for a couple hundred yen at any electronics store.
