My buddy is asking if I can send him a bottle of the ‘exclusive to Japan only’ Blantons whiskey. Were not too worried about costs as much as trying to figure out if it is legally doable and how. I am reading conflicting information on the internet. My friend lives in Ohio.
Has anyone any experience with this? Thank you in advance,

The only way to send booze out of Japan is in checked luggage on a plane or undeclared in a postal package. But that second option is a big gamble. Everything gets xrayed and often opened by a human and checked, and if found it is confiscated and the postal fee is not refunded either. Plus you have to sign a declaration before sending put a package so you may get in legal trouble too.
Any booze over 24 percent of alcohol cannot be sent with Japan Post.
