Hi, does anyone know of a good place to watch Japanese movies with Japanese subtitles? I know that sites like Animelon exist, but I don’t really like anime, so it’s difficult to motivate myself to watch it. I do however, love Japanese cinema and it would be awesome if there was somewhere where I could watch something like Tokyo Story or Still Walking with Japanese subs. If anyone knows of a good resource like this I would be very grateful.

Netflix?
Not Japanese movies, but I think Disney+ has Japanese subtitles for all the Star Wars movies (I think they have Japanese audio options as well)
Both Disney+ and Netflix (my recommendation), but you’ll need a good VPN for both.
Also keep in mind subs is not the same as scripts. This means the subs text sometimes will not match what is said on screen. This happens frequently with western media dubbed in Japanese.
Normally stuff made in Japan, 国内作品 as you’ll find it in the streaming sites, will have matching audio+subs.
nice to see another person learning Japanese that doesn’t care for Anime.
