Hi all!
I’ll be in Japan for the New Year’s Eve with my boyfriend. We are both first timers and we wanted to experience the New Year’s Countdown at Shibuya Square, but …
As this event has been canceled, we need your recommendations regarding other Countdown locations in Tokyo.
On some blogs I read that Kasai Seaside Park would normally offer a Countdown event, but I can’t find any information if it will take place this year at all. Does anyone know more about this? Would you recommend it at all?
Or maybe Tokyo Tower Countdown?
Thanks a lot for all the feedback in advance!

I don’t believe Tokyo Tower has had a countdown since the neighboring Zojoji Temple cancelled their large New Years event.
Honestly, if you want a big crowd, go to Shibuya Crossing. Look at the videos for last year to see what it will be like. The only issue is the lack of public drinking in the central area, but you can always go to a bar or outside the area if you want to do that, and then head back to the crossing. People are still going to “countdown” even without a large screen telling them the time.
Heyyo! I will be joining this tour thing called a Tokyo pub crawl on the new years countdown night! I think they have some great plans if you guys are interested in joining! I’m going alone so far but I think it’ll be really fun so you’re welcome to join!
