After >1000 Kanjis I can assure that Wanikani mnemonics are the worst [Rant] (

I write this as a cautionary tale for future learners, if you are considering learning Kanji, please go for RTK + Koohii instead of WK. The main reason being that some mnemonics on Wanikani are so bad that I’m just re-learning some radicals as teached on RTK.

RTK is not much better, but the thing that made me regret not following the RTK route is Koohii, a website with community driven mnenmonics that serves a companion for the RTK book. There are literally dozens of creative mnemonics that makes memorizing kanji a bliss.

Hopefully WK implements a resource like Koohii, because as a paid resource, it’s no more than a glorified SRS system with different radicals.

Edit: Being a bit more objective, WK at least tries to help you memorize the readings, and sometimes it works.
