A really amazing bonus is a great way to end the year.
For the first time since 2009, my base pay is larger than it was the previous month; it went up by 1200 yen per month. Almost six yen per hour! And of course inflation has been far higher, but still, I never thought I’d see anything but cuts until I retired. Life’s small pleasures, right?
Last day of work before my winter vacation starts. My next working day will be January 10th.

My bread machine/”home bakery”. 2200 yen for a solid piece of hardware and rye infused bread anytime anyday at the push of a couple buttons? Praise be to the inventors of Mercari and bread makers!
Had a bountiful “harvest” at my konbini job yesterday and got to eat a lot of free food.
Konbini job in general being so much better than my old steakhouse dishwasher job. Coworkers are nice and friendly. It’s so much less stressful.
News from my sister back home is that number 3 is on the way. Great news!
MiL is not sick anymore so there’s a good chance we can go for dinner tomorrow. It’s been a long time.
Took the bins and had the laundry done before wife woke up this morning. I feel so refreshed after putting empty bin liners in the bins. The small things…!
Wife and MIL recovered from Covid. MIL is in her mid-80s but apparently she didn’t get that sick. Huge relief.
* Got the fourth vaccine shot and was really pleased at how streamlined my city made it. * My company might be paying to fly me back to my hometown in March! Would have some light work while there, but basically a free trip, which would be much appreciated with the price of tickets these days.
I wrapped and ribboned all the xmas presents, and bought all the ingredients to cook the big xmas lunch.

Slept in and arrived to work a bit later than usual. Office is still deserted and it’s so peaceful.
Gelato Pique mofumofu pajama is the best winter lounge wear. I wish I have 6 instead of only 2 pairs.
Got a Hori switch controller for my kid at retail. Must have bought the last one because right after i ordered it from joshin’s rakuten store, they delisted it.
Finally starting to feel like I’ve actually fully recovered from COVID!
