Jumping back into Japanese after a long Hiatus, some advice please.

I’ve read the FAQ and it did not answer my question, so I am posting instead.

When I was in middle school, I learned Hiragana/Katakana, and when I was in high school I studied Kanji, learning the radicals/handwriting and meanings by completing a book called Remembering the Kanji. Then in college, I took a year of Japanese language courses where I completed Genki I and started a little on Genki II.

The problem is, that was 5 years ago now since I have touched anything related to learning Japanese. I would love to get back into it, just not sure where to start. So I am wondering if anybody else has had good experience getting back into the swing of things rather than starting from scratch.

For reference, I just took the N5 practice exam and it took me like 30 minutes to get a score of 9/14. Definitely a lot of refreshing that I need to do.

Thank you!

  1. Reboot GENKI I, that’s what I did after a long break. Add Bunpro fit grammar, wanikani for kanji, and something like Anki or iKnow! for vocab.
