I will be travelling to America soon for a trip. My wife is concerned about when I return, because the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states:
“…entrants will be are required to show either a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate of three doses of vaccines prescribed on the Emergency Use List of World Health Organization (WHO), or a certificate of negative test result of pre-departure COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure from the original country/region. This measure will be applied from 0:00 AM (JST) on October 11, 2022.”
My wife says she has heard that, ridiculous though it sounds, people showing documentation of 5 doses of vaccine are encountering problems, as the rules state documentation for 3 doses are required.
It sounds stupid, but I wonder if anyone has heard similar information.

That’s scary because I only had “3” doses and 2 of them are that one dose J&J. I do have the American vaccine card though. I’m hoping it won’t be a problem because I don’t want to have to find a PCR testing facility that meets all the requirements from the place I’m traveling to.
? What has your wife hears? Sounds like people who are anti-vaccine trying to scare her?
As long as you fill out VisitJapanWeb before coming and it’s the same as coming to Japan before the pandemic
I re-entered Japan last month with 4 doses and encountered no issues.
If I had a yen for every time I heard about some ridiculous and insanely unlikely situation from a Japanese person that they themselves heard from someone else…
I knew the rules about what I actually needed (at the time it was my SOS and 3 doses etc) but having the paperwork from my city hall that showed that I was vaccinated was an extra step that I was glad to have and did have to show.
