Anki leech cards – best approach?

I’m almost through JLPT Tango n5 anki deck, but I’m noticing about 5% (around 50) of my cards are suspended/leeched.

What is the best approach to these cards? Many of them are things I would like to remember but can’t for some reason.

  1. I’m not familiar with tango, but for my MNN flash cards I find just reading the book and doing the workbook help me nail down the word I leeched before the lesson.

  2. For me, I added an extra field to the cards and used it to write in memory aids. Mnemonics, kanji breakdowns, and example sentences can all be really helpful for leeches.

Also, sometimes seeing a word in more contexts can help it stick. Sites like [Immersion Kit](https://www.immersionkit.com/) and [Youglish](https://youglish.com/japanese) let you type in a word and see it in context from different videos or shows.
