Just as the title says, I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with using their SMBC debit cards in America or Canada? Did it work at most shops or did only ATMs work?
They say you can use it at any VISA member store outside of Japan.
I have the SMBC PRESTIA card and they clearly say you can use it. I haven’t tried it though. I have used it onlie for US purchases. I would guess it works.
Check if it has a PLUS logo on the back. That is one sign it should work (not the only).
Worked fine for me in the USA, Dubai, and a few other countries.
Worked for me in Australia and the USA. You might need to unblock it for large purchases though.
I would be surprised if they didn’t freeze the account if you suddenly used it outside Japan. But, it just may be my dumb luck that kind of stuff happens to me.
For low cost purchases mine worked in the USA without notifying Smbc.
went to USA a couple weeks ago. it worked everywhere without any problems
