Moving to Japan in February but don’t have my visa yet

I’m moving to Japan in the beginning of February and I haven’t applied for a spouse visa . How should i go about this ? My husband told me that we can get it when we get to Japan but I’m not too sure about this.

It’s not the recommended method and immigration would rather you go through the steps back home but Tourist -> Spouse visa is one of the extremely few visa change that’s still somewhat allowed, though you could always get unlucky with a grumpy immigration case worker and be told to finish the process back home.
