Help, learning katakana at slow pace because it’s less common

I’m finding that my hiragana comprehension cements faster, with fewer mistakes and a faster reading speed, compared to katakana, simply because hiragana is used more than katakana, and it’s tripping me up. I’ve been reading fiction mainly for practice so katakana isn’t used often (compared to a newspaper), limiting my exposure. When katakana does turn up it trips me up, my reading speed drops from the speed of speaking to a character every 5 seconds and the rest of the sentence isn’t comprehended due to my thinking method changing from natural recognition to mnemonics and such.

Exposure and reading has been the fastest way for me to improve my hiragana, in comparison to drills like flash cards and writing drills . Does anybody have any advice on resources i can use to get exposure to katakana? I’m thinking something like young children’s stories written entirely in katakana?

  1. Here’s to hoping they get rid of kanji and replace it with only Hiragana. Maybe sprinkle in a dash of katakana lol
