Still eligible for citizenship if parents are no longer citizens?

Throwaway because reasons. My parents had Japanese citizenship when I was born, but they became naturalized US citizens before I turned 18 and gave up their Japanese passports. From what I understand, I am on my family’s koseki. Is my claim to citizenship still valid? If so, how would I go about claiming it? Note: I’ve not turned 22 yet and I’m currently living in the United States.

  1. Yes, but why are you asking Reddit when can just call your Japanese consulate? Talking to real people isn’t scary, give it a try
