Tokyo tech dorms for international students

Hi, for those who have studied at Tokyo Tech, I’m wondering what is the likelihood for international students to stay in dorms?

On their website it says that International Students ” receive low priority for student housing”.

Context: I’m thinking of doing a semester of exchange early next year at Tokyo Tech.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Kinda self-explanatory. If there’s anything left over after the domestic students get accommodations, they throw the scraps to the internationals.

  2. I am studying at Tokyo Tech currently; there are dorms specific to International Students (Shofu Dorm, Midorigaoka Dorm, Nagatsuta Dorm etc.), and as far as I know, they are almost 50% vacant because of current restrictive inflow of new students. I have not known any international students who were denied a dorm room. You will definitely secure one even before you land here.

  3. I’m a fresher here. They definitely allocate dorms for the new int’l students, they have separate ones just for them. The ones in my course (gsep) get the ‘umegaoka dorm’ and the ones in other course/categories get other dorms, mentioned in a previous reply.
