Japanese Learning Method / A question

Hello everyone,

I tried to learn Japanese 2 years ago, but I gave up. Now I want to pick it up again. I remember some hiragana, some katakana and some kanji, but of course I need to learn from the beginning.

Since I know very little Japanese I feel like now I can decide the way I can learn it. This time my strategy will be that first learning many 100\~200 words (both kanji and non-kanji) but these words will be in sentences, not learning them individually, so that I also can absorb the grammar maybe a little easier / or this can help me to understand the reading of the kanji relating to its meaning. As I learn more words, I am hoping to get better.

Is there anyone who tried this method? Could this work? Or will it backfire?

  1. Study grammar specifically. There’s plenty of stuff online. Knowing basic grammar helps a lot.

100-200 words is not a lot of words. To even start meaningful reading (without having to look up every single word), you want to know about 1000 of the most common words.
