Can i use any thin piece of wood to cover the heater of my kotatsu?

i don’t know how to work reddit but i’ve spent so long googling and got no answer. i’ve had my kotatsu for a while but haven’t used it in a hot minute. i bought the whole thing, table, heater, blanket etc, together on amazon. there was a very thin piece of wood(?) that you would put on the heater so you could put the blanket on top. but i lost the piece and i can’t imagine i should just put the blanket on the heater 💀 can i use any thin piece of wood to put on the heater ???

  1. Some wood are treated with highly flammable chemicals. If you are simply replacing a piece that was intended by the manufacturer to be in place during use then there should be no problem, but due to the fact that it will be directly next to a source of heat you need to be careful about the piece of wood that you choose to use. Alternatively, you could contact the manufacturer and request a replacement piece and usually they will sell it to you.

  2. I bought one on Amazon too. On mine the heater is attached to the underside of the table and there should not be any obstruction on/over the heater. The table has two tops and the blanket is sandwiched in between.

Do you have a link to the one you bought?
