I’m planning to do the Shimanami Kaido for two days in early April. I want to rent electric assist bikes from Better Bikes since they do multi-day rentals. The only slight issue is having to return them back in Onomichi.
Does this itinerary make sense? I’ve been searching for a map with times and distances between the islands but can’t seem to find one.
Day 1:
First train from Kyoto to Onomichi
Rent electric assist JETTY bikes from Better Bikes
9:15 or 10:40 ferry from Onomichi to Setoda
Kosanji Temple/Hill of Hope
Setodacho Setoda Street/Shiomachi Shopping Alleys (cafes)
Dolce Ice cream
Omishima
Oyamazumi Shrine
Irihi Falls
Hakatajima
Hirakiyama Park cherry blossoms
Kakatajima Michi no Eki
Oshima
\*Kirosan Observatory
Yoshiumi Local Culture Center
Imabari hotel
Day 2:
6:25 or 9:50 Morning ferry from Imabari to Habu (should we stop at the smaller islands along the ferry route if we have time?)
Ride back to Mukaishima
Ferry to Onomichi to return bikes
Senko-ji Park cherry blossoms and ropeway
Train back to Kyoto
