Consulate-General asking for Degree

Hi,

I received my COE a while ago and submitted my Visa application through mail to my local consulate-general. They’re now asking me for a degree related to my occupation, of which I only have an associate’s degree in general studies and a couple of IT certifications.

Should I be worried? I got the COE without a bachelor’s and not having 10 years experience.

I thought all that verification happened during the COE portion by immigration.

Thank you in advance!

  1. Generally the local consulate would be more interested in the authenticity of the documents. But its possible immigration wanted them to verify the actual scope of your education.

Only one way to find out really. If they’re asking for documents you’ll need to send them.

Should you be worried? Well, unless you’ve got a bachelors degree that you’ve been keeping secret from everyone there isn’t really anything you can do at this point. Worrying won’t do anything but shorten your lifespan.
