Applying for Japan Visitor Visa from the UK as a visitor in the UK?

Hello,

So, I am a current international student in Canada and wanted to apply for a visit visa for Japan for Christmas. Issue is, I am going to be in the UK for the next two months and will be leaving in the next two weeks so I kind of need my passport for now. I also have a Pakistani passport so I would need a visa either way to visit Japan.

I was wondering, is it possible for me to apply for a Japanese visit visa from the UK as a visitor in the UK or does it have to be from a country of residence?

Also a side question, I am reading online that the waiting times aren’t that bad but is that still true considering everything just recently opened up after COVID? Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The vast majority of Japanese embassies will only process visas for citizens and legal residents of the country they’re located in.
