Joined a Japanese company, and as part of the role I might have to make phone calls overseas while not at work. I will be provided a company phone, but I’ve now been tasked with looking at providers that provide these phone plans first.
Has anyone had to look into this before, and could share with me some knowledge?
I’ve found Rakuten offers unlimited overseas calling to 67 select countries for under 1000yen, though its unclear if this is through my actual phone number or their application “Rakuten Link.” If anyone has experience with this plan please let me know.

If you are calling from inside Japan to abroad (* while connected to rakuten network), the 1000 yen plan works when either using your phone dialer or rakuten link app. Reference: https://network.mobile.rakuten.co.jp/service/international-unlimited-talk/?l-id=un-limit_unlimited-talk_02
The rakuten link app (basically voip softphone) is only required when making “unlimited” calls from abroad to abroad, according to the table there.
