How should I approach this?

I haven’t committed to learning Japanese yet, but I plan to.
To those who are further through their language learnjng journey:

How did you/how should I approach learning the Japanese language, in a way that I can develop as few “bad habits” has possible while learning?

  1. 1. If you are new to learning Japanese, read the Starter’s Guide. Check to see if your question has been addressed before posting by searching or reading the wiki. Not doing so falls under ‘Low effort’ (see rule 6).
