10 Day Tokyo/Kyoto Itenerary

Hello everyone! My wife and I are going to be visiting Japan at the end of March. We’ll be there for 10 days, and I see a lot of people on here get shredded for their iteneraries, so I figured maybe I should do a pulse check and see what you all think of mine. We want this trip to be memorable, and full, but not stressful. Some items are non-negotiable, but I am very open to suggestions from those who have a better idea than me. I am also aware that some of these listed places are not guaranteed to be open in March (Sky Circus, for example). I did try to group things logically together by location.
Without further adieu:

Day 0: Arrival day. I am not counting this as part of our 10 days as we get in the evening, and we have nothing planned.

Day 1: Ikebukuro
Sunshine City Aquarium
Pokemon Center
Sky Circus

Day 2: Odaiba
Teamlab Planets
Joypolis

Day 3: Nintendo Tokyo
Takeshita
Shinjuku Gyoen
Tokyo Metro Govt Building

Day 4: Akihabara

Day 5: Kyoto Day 1 – Travel to Kyoto
Ni-Jo Castle
Golden Pavillion

Day 6: Philsophers Path
Gion
Higashiyama
Fushimi Inari

Day 7: Arashiyama
Kyoto Manga Museum
Travel back to Tokyo

Day 8: Ghibli Museum
Nakano Broadway

Day 9: Ueno Zoo
Ueno Sumo
Yanaka

Day 10: OPEN

Does this seem like too much? It’s a bit front heavy by design (easier to recover at the end than it is to come up with new energy). Both my wife and I are gamer/anime/manga nerds, that happen to be a little older and therefore also very fond of the culture of Japan (hence all the temples). If you guys think this is too much, or think there are things missing, etc…please let us know!!!

  1. Your plan looks very similar to mine over the two cities. I’m not here to offer help, but to lurk for suggestions. I’ll be arriving days after you leave. I hope you and your wife have a great holiday!
