Hi all, I am purchasing a camera lens using the tax free scheme.
As i understand it, since it’s not consumable product i should be able to use it in Japan. However we called the store and they said we cannot.
Is this true or is there a misunderstanding?

You can as long as you do not buy along consumables, in that case they should put stuff in a sealed bag.
If you only buy a lens and the seal it, then just open it and use it, as long as you bring it out of Japan you are following the rules.
And actually they do not really check. I am not telling you to break the rules, just don’t stress too much.
It’s consumable in the same way as clothes. You’ll be fine.
