Window AC units?

How are window AC units here, place I’m moving to owner won’t let the typical wall unit be fixed in so I’m stuck to window mount units for that room.

Where I’m from they get a rep for being pretty poorly functioning and kinda ghetto. Also little worried about bug getting in through gaps.

  1. Portable air conditioners are great. Much easier to deal with. Their down side is they are a bit more noisy and heat often leaks from the exhaust unless you insulate the exhaust tubes.

  2. In an apartment around 9 years ago I had a room where we could not install a wall air conditioner only a window one.

And I was pretty sure it it would be a problem but the window will be open for that part only and they seal the rest really nice so no problems with bugs or cold wind on the side.
However as it is mounted to the window and it needs to be sealed you will not be able to open that window while the air conditioner is there. If you need the window to open than maybe a portable heater (there are electric ones if you do not like the ones using patrol. The electric ones are often a bit weaker from my experience but cheaper in the long run) in winter and a fan in summer.
