Transferring to Japanese University as Second Year

Hello everyone,

I am a Canadian citizen currently attending UBC as a freshmen, and I decided that I want to move to Japan for my studies and future career.

While looking at my options, I realised that there are programs from top universities such as Waseda and Keio offering English programs, all of which have good career prospects.

The only official route I found was Waseda’s SPSE program which offers transfers to Year 2, but I am not betting on it as its quotas are much smaller and thus less likely to get an offer than first-year applicants.

Another option which I am eyeing on is the SILS program from the same university which only offers first-year admissions.

The question I want to ask is, if I was to enter a Japanese university as a first-year after completing my first-year at UBC, would it be possible to transfer course credits so that the program would be reduced to three years?

Many thanks.
