I’m asking out if genuine curiosity. I used to teach English lessons at local kindergartens, and I noticed how passionate and hardworking the teachers were. I’m a big fan of kindergarten in Japan, but I heard it’s not a desirable job at all. Do kindergarten teachers make enough money to support themselves?

it looks like they make about 4 mil a year on avg
From what I learned they only get a subsistence income and are completely dependent on the kindergarten owner in a sort of sempai/kohai role being forced to retire when they reach their early 30’s with the pay-off being that they get a nice, secure government job for life after that from the recommendation of the kindergarten. It’s a shit position to be in but for some reason staff accept it.
Depends on the place. On average, probably not, but good situations can be found.
