is the area around Kyodo station in Setagaya good?

Hi all, I’ve been looking for housing and found a good place around 5 mins walk from Kyodo station in Setagaya. Before I pull the trigger I’m wondering if anyone living or have lived around that area and have anything I should be cautious about? Much appreciated.

  1. You may also want to try asking in /r/Tokyo.

  2. Setagaya is a great area. Girlfriend lives near there. It is quiet and safe. I’ve never seen anything crazy near Kyodo station

  3. Pretty good area. Nice small shopping center right at the station and two shopping streets with a bunch of local shops. Good access to central Tokyo too.

  4. There have been two murders (one familial; one a jilted lover) in the area over the last 20 or so years. It’s more expensive than most other places in Tokyo, and it’s not a convenient place if you (a) plan to drive or keep a car because of narrow roads or (b) have children because of the lack of child-care facilities (worst in Japan, when last I heard).

  5. Most of Setagaya is a nightmare to get to from anywhere outside Setagaya. Check the train access.
