[itinerary] for 12-day Tokyo/Hakone/Kyoto/Osaka trip in November 2023

Hi all – apologies for formatting as I’m on a phone. My husband and I are planning a trip to Japan for our honeymoon. We are interested in doing a ryokan/onsen experience for a night, as well as doing the major sight seeing. We both like anime/manga. We don’t want to rush but don’t want to be sitting all day either. We will be getting a JR Pass, withdrawing money, and getting either SIM cards or pocket WiFi when we arrive in Tokyo.

Here’s our rough draft:
Tokyo – Day 1: flight lands, check in at hotel, get dinner locally, rest.

Tokyo – Day 2: Meiji Jingu Shrine, Harajuku, Shibuya, Shibuya Sky

Tokyo – Day 3: Asakusa, Sensoji Temple, Ueno Park

Tokyo – Day 4: Shinjuku Gyoen, Shinjuku, Golden Gai

Tokyo – Day 5: Ameyoko, Akihabara, Ginza

Tokyo – Day 6: Odaiba, Roppongi Hills, Mori Tower

Hakone – Day 7: travel to Hakone, Hot Springs, Ryokan Night

Kyoto – Day 8: travel to Kyoto, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove

Kyoto – Day 9: Kinkaku-Ji temple, philosophers path

Kyoto – Day 10: Gion, Yasaka Shrine, Kiyomizu-dera, fushimi inari

Osaka – Day 11: Kuroman Market, Shinsekai, Namba

Day 12: open

Day 13: flight home

  1. days 2 and 4 can all be done together.

Ameyoko should be with ueno. and Ueno deserves the Better part of an afternoon with the natural history and science museum and national museum.

Ginza can be skipped, there is nothing really worth seeing there.

Akihabara can need a full day or several days depending on what you like

i really doubt you’ll be able to travel from Hakone to Kyoto and get do arashiyama in the same day. november sun will set at like 4:30
