Hello everyone! I know this is highly discussed topic and I have basic understanding on how to loophole. But I have some questions. Currently I have Japanese and U.S passport, I recently renewed my Japanese passport just after I turned 18 and it’s a 10 year passport. But I’ve seen discussions about choosing your nationality at age 22, do I have to do that process at 22 or when I go to the Japanese consulate I just check the box that I did renounce my foreign citizenship when i turn 28?

Don’t ask, don’t tell. Just tick the box. Unless you want to have a political career in Japan, of course.
Is your dual citizenship the US? If so America recognizes dual citizenship. Keep both for as long as you can.
